STORM PREPAREDNESS

  • Drive with caution, keep headlights on. Watch for workers and work vehicles in the road.
  • Monitor local news for emergency information
  • Get and place sandbags to protect your property.

The City has activated its storm plan, and is monitoring storm conditions and is coordinating with partner agencies, monitoring and clearing roads, checking hillsides and clearing drainage to prevent flooding and keep the roads safe. Sheriffs Volunteers on Patrol (VOP) are patrolling and reporting issues. The City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be activated if necessary.

SANDBAG INFORMATION

All LA County Fire Stations have sandbags. Call ahead to check availability of sand and filled bags and visit dpw.lacounty.gov/dsg/sandbags/ for more information. Plastic sandbags are prohibited in the City — only burlap and jute are allowed. Do not remove sand from the beaches, as it harms the coastal ecosystem and is illegal under County Law.
